Okay, so I know this is very rough. The challenge was to match a letter form with a piece of archtitecture. I thought this looked like an "i" upside down. I tried working in Adobe Illustrator, and I have no idea what I am doing. I have some great ideas for improving this image, but I have no idea how to do it! I guess I'll be watching a bunch of video tutorials.

Hi Dawn,
I like your picture here a lot. Where was it? Did you take it yourself?
Well, you are right, it looks like the “I” upside down. However, what you have explained here is quite limited for me to understand what you were trying to do or what it is for. Therefore, I have a few comments for you on this project.
First, giving the audience title that would be great.
Second, on the shape of “I” upside down here, I think you need to resize of the “dot” since the pond on this picture looks bigger than the “I” straight line shape. The “I” shape should be smaller.
Also, it’s good that you used the black color on the alphabet “I” on white background as a contrasting role since it would clearly grab your audience attentions (p. 195). Or you can use another color for this “I” shape, for example, red or orange, which stand for bricks. Once, what if you apply orange on “I” shape, you might need to change the background color, for example, black, as well. Also, I noticed that your straight line and dot here were aligned with each other in the middle of picture (p.195). Hence, it will connect to each other and look like “I” upside down.
These are some ideas if you’d like to apply them to your revised version of your image. If you have any question or concerns, please let me know.
